The Alpha Thera DDJ-GRV6 is positioned as the successor to the midrange DDJ-FLX6GT from Pioneer DJ. With a club-style layout, the GRV6 allows DJs to remix tracks on the fly.
More specifically, the Groove Circuit and Stems FX empower the working DJ by being able to effortlessly swap out drum parts and manipulate track elements on the fly.
If this ins’t enough, swapping out the drums in your track for different loops and mix them up with rolls and trans can be done effortlessly.
Other noteworthy features include the (1) Smart Rotary Selector and Discover function - this is an AI assistance in Rekordbox and a new selector make finding your next track easier than ever; (2) Stems FX in Serato Pro which Isolate the different elements of your track and apply four different effects to them individually.
The all-new Groove Circuit is the standout feature of this controller. This only works with Rekordbox, as Serato has its own new feature called Stems FX.
The Groove Circuit gives you the power to strip the drums out of your track and replace them with some different drum loops. There’s also the Capture feature, which lets you extract the drums from an already-loaded song instead of using a loop. Pressing the capture button brings up a marker, which can be adjusted to 4, 8, 16, or 32 beats.
For Serato, the Stems FX gives you the ability to pick one of four track elements – vocals, melody, bass or drums – and apply effects to them individually. There are four effects built in, with options for echo out, roll out, braker and delay.

At first glance the massive capacitve touchscreen stands out. Larger than the CDJ-3000s, the 10.1-inch hi-res display gives a clear view of all the info you need at a quick glance and reveals key information for all four decks. Now with the ability to view 13 tracks at once ( an upgrade of 8 on the XZ), finding the next track will be an easier experience. Another standout feature is the Touch Preview feature which allows DJs to preview tracks in a playlist by just touching them and scrolling though without loading them. Touch Cue also allows you to preview upcoming parts of the track that’s currently playing.
In addition to all the professional Inputs/Outputs you would expect from a flagship controller, there are many innovative feautures exclusive to the XDJ-AZ. If you use the Wi-Fi connection for rekordbox Link Export mode, you can access tracks from your computer without needing to connect any cables.
Further, you can now also access tracks from your phone using the rekordbox mobile app. There’s a built-in Wi-Fi connection and an ethernet connection option which eliminates any interference. If utilising Beatport, there is an integrated connection which means you can log in directly on the AZ, browse through the Beatport charts or your playlists, and stream tracks straight away.
Keeping up with technology, the XDJ-AZ incorporates AlphaTheta’s new SonicLink connection for its headphones. This gives you an ultra-low-latency wireless connection to supported headphones without the need for the usual dongle.
